UNICEF DIRECTOR VISITS THE QATAR FOUNDATION FOR SOCIAL WORK

Amal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, The Executive Director of Qatar Foundation for Social Work received Mrs. Henrietta H. Fore, The UNICEF Executive Director in according to strengthen the cooperation in social work among institutions related to the protection of the rights of children. They discussed the achievements and initiatives of civil society in the fields of children rights.

The UNICEF Executive Director briefed on the pivotal role played by the Qatar Foundation for Social Work in the development of civil society organizations through its affiliated centers in the field of children rights, she also listened to a detailed explanation of the methodology by which the Foundation works to strengthen the capacities of these organizations and activate their role in society, and to develop strategies, policies and programs that contribute to the upgrading of these institutions in order to achieve the goals for which they were established.

At the beginning of the meeting, a detailed film was presented about the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and its affiliated centers and its contribution in achieving the agenda of sustainable development goals as well as the achievements and initiatives for children rights.

The UNICEF Executive Director has conducted a tour within the departments of protection and rehabilitation of the Aman Center and reviewed the equipment and services provided to the children, the methods and procedures of protection and rehabilitation, integration and follow-up care, which are carried out according to the latest methods through a team trained according to the highest quality standards.

Mrs. Al Mannai, The Executive President of the Foundation presented a commemorative Shield to Mrs.Henrietta, The UNICEF Executive Director.

Al Mannai said that "As a civil society organization, we are strengthening interaction with similar global civil society organizations. Also, we are keen to take advantage of their experiences to broaden our choices and enhance our participation in sustainable development strategies and programs. As well as will do our best to support the opportunities for joint cooperation"

Mr. Mansour Al-Saadi, The Executive Director of Aman Center, said that "the Center appreciates this important visit of the UNICEF Executive Director and stressed that the visit was a good opportunity to inform the organization about the Center's experience in the field of child protection and rehabilitation"

He added that the Aman Center provided several mechanisms such as the launch of the hotline, the call center and the comprehensive Aman shelter. It also presented a number of specific initiatives in the field of child protection and rehabilitation, such as the launch of a safety watch for the child's movement and an application named " Help me" to report about child abuse . It also, launched a campaign "Do Not Touch Me" to raise the awareness about the dangers of child molestation and how to prevent it, and Aman awareness Robot.

The Center also held a number of important partnerships with a number of local, regional and international institutions to promote the protection of the rights of children. The most recent of these was the election of AMAN as a regional representative for the Middle East and North Africa region of the Child Support Line Organization.

It is worth mentioning that the Qatar Foundation for Social Work was established in August 2013 as a non-profit development organization aims to develop civil society organizations which affiliated with it, enhance its capabilities, promote its role in society, and develop strategies and policies that contribute to its advancement. The center includes a number of specialized centers: the Center for Social Development, The Shafallah Center for Persons with disabilities, the Family Counseling Center, the Orphan Care Center, Tamkeen Center for old people, the Center for Protection and Rehabilitation, the Noor Center for the Blind and Best Buddies-Qatar initiative.
